Lorelei's fellow cancer warrior Laurann Katherine Gateley, 22, went home to God on September 10, 2012, in Edmond, Okla. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in November 2007, and spent the next five years fighting courageously. Her family has selflessly requested that donations be made to Lorelei's support in lieu of flowers.
Laurann Gateley was born February 2, 1990, and was named for her grandmothers, Laura Pace and Ann Gateley. She was a 2008 graduate of Edmond Santa Fe High School and was a member of Life Church.
She was gifted with many artistic talents but excelled in poetry and journaling. She left us with numerous journals full of precious memories. Laurann’s witty and lively sense of humor taught us to live life to the fullest and never give up. What a blessing she was, such a hero to so many. She leaves a wonderful testimony and legacy of strength and courage. Laurann’s short life inspired and impacted many and will continue as her story is shared.
She was preceded in death by her older brother, Ray Britton (Britt) Gateley, and grandparents Hays Gateley, Ann Gateley and Frank Pace.
Laurann is survived by her mother Cynthia Jan Pace, father and step-mother Jimmy R. and Debbie Gateley, grandmother Laura Elizabeth Welsh Pace, sister and brother-in-law Hollee Elizabeth Caldwell and Warren Price Caldwell, brother Joshua David Gateley, and her greatest love, niece Kamdyn Elizabeth Caldwell, all of Edmond.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at Life Church.TV Edmond Campus, 1-35 and 2nd St., officiated by Laurann’s former youth pastor, Jason Whitlock. Her ashes will be laid to rest next to her brother, Britt, at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lorelei Decker Support Trust. Donations can be made at any MidFirst Bank or online at http://loreleidecker.com/support-lorelei (in the form on this site.)
