RICE Chemo begins Monday, August 6

Lorelei will check into Integris Baptist Monday morning to begin RICE chemotherapy.   Here's an article that talks about RICE chemo.  Lorelei will take hers via a slightly different schedule and we don't know how many rounds she will need to take before her stem cell transplant.  She will start with R (Rituximab) on Monday. They will give her E (Etoposide) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday she will also get C (Carboplatin) and begin a 24 hour infusion of I (Ifosamide.) This "I" drug can irritate the bladder so they may use a drug called mesna to help with that.  And of course, since she'll be hospitalized they will be able to manage her nausea via IV medication as needed.

She's enjoying one last weekend with "long" hair (about one third of an inch!) before she loses it again.

Our prayers are with you Lorelei. You will beat this just like you did the last round. We will be praying for you for this week. I know that it will be tough and you won't feel very well this coming week but you will be fine in the end. Love you.

Psalm 91:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
