Sleeping Beauty

Lorelei has slept most of today (Saturday, Oct 20.)  She skipped breakfast, lunch and dinner but just ate one and a half cookies! She said they were the perfect chemo cookies--Keebler E.L.Fudge originals. They aren't too hard and don't have a strong aroma. Even the fudge is light and mild.

What's even more amazing is how those cookies came to be in this room. Earlier today one of my high school friends (Laura Maggio) messaged me out of the blue. She said she just felt "urged" to do it. She told me the story about how praying for Lorelei has enriched her life and connected her with others who are doing the same. It was just the encouragement I needed at the perfect time. I was feeling lonely and isolated. Then she asked if I needed anything. I was honest. I needed some Diet Dr Pepper. This hospital is the first one we've been in where you have to pay for everything (even parking.) DDP from the vending machine at the end of the hall costs $1.50 for one small bottle! So, Laura brought me some DDP! She also included those cookies because they are her favorites. I think God knew Lorelei needed them. Nobody will ever be able to tell me our Lord is not intimately acquainted and interested in the most minute details of our lives!

I'm from Michigan, so that makes it even more of a pleasures to read. -Posted by Andrea | November 27, 2008 | 00:30:48I bet that it is nostalgic! Were you from Grand Rapids? I think that is the city they live in, anyway. I love those pictures. Let me know if you recognize anyone in them, they have had 2 different people recognized from her pictures. -Posted by Angela | November 27, 2008 | 21:32:44No, I'm not from Grand Rapids; I'm from Lansing. I've got an uncle who lives in Grand Rapids. My husband is from a suburb of Detroit. I didn't recognize anyone from the pictures. -

Mom report:Laura walked 11.5 miles today. She was accompanied by my sister Mary (who drove up from Grand Rapids last night), and best friend Tracey from grade school in Pentwater (who drove up from Lafayette, IN yesterday after work). We stayed at Laura s father s home on Lake Michigan last night. Thanks, Greg!Laura walked 3 catch-up miles into Pentwater on Monday. We stayed at my absent host friends home. Laura spent 4 hours getting her hair done in the morning. Meanwhile, our friend, Tink was busily fixing Laura s broken zipper and refurbishing shattered cloth pockets and cuffs on her pants. We took a snooze, then had a picnic at the beach and watched a superb sunset. Laura walked 12 miles and I 6.7 on Sunday. I drove to Hart to retrieve Laura and we had some breakfast with her host, Karen. We then we returned to the dock in Ludington to start our walk to Pentwater. Our friend Tink picked me up and my niece Rachel, her son John (who had just turned 10 on Saturday), and Rachel s friend Justin joined Laura. We all got together in town at the Antler Bar for dinner. If you ve been watching, you know I met Laura and Karen (friend from Pentwater School days) when they alit from the Badger onto Michigan soil in Ludington Saturday evening. After Laura gave an interview to Jennifer, a reporter from the Ludington Daily News; we ate at Luciano s, then Karen and Laura went to Karen s home in Hart, and I to a friend s in Pentwater for the night.~ Jane
