Travel Arrangements Complete!

Travel arrangements complete! Thanks to Natali Zemke (a Super Summer sister of Lorelei Decker) We have an affordable place to stay in Houston this week! (It's only 13 miles from the hospital.) Hannah Decker and I will fly to Houston today in faith that MD Anderson will be able to work her in tomorrow for all the necessary appointments so she can begin taking Neupogen shots this weekend. Hannah should be able to complete her donation during her WashU spring break next week. Miraculously there were still a few Enterprise rental cars available despite the Houston Rodeo. (I guess cowboys drive their own trucks!) So, Lord willing, Lorelei will have frozen stem cells waiting to rescue her once her body is ready to receive them. Thank you ALL for your prayer and support. God is good. All the time.

I saw the story about Lorelei on the news this morning and have thought about her all day. I am so thankful that your insurance company has decided to cover her treatment. I am from a town south of OKC and My son, Cody, has been on the same journey that Lorelei is facing. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma 3 1/2 years ago. He has gone through chemo, radiation, numerous biopsies, bone marrow transplant (using his own cells) and bone marrow transplant (using a donors cells) his sister was not a match. He too has struggled with the cancer being in his chest. I was reading a post of yours and when you mentioned that Lorelei is in "cancer never land" while friends are moving on, I completely understood that phrase. Cody graduated in 2012 and he too has experienced that feeling of being left behind..... Waiting. When we first found out about Cody's cancer we were told, "If you are gonna have cancer this is the one to have, it is so easily treated". Yet, here we are 3 1/2 years later and still battling this disease. Cody has been treated at Children's Hospital in OKC , they have been exceptionally great!! If you dont mind corresponding with me occassionally by email I would love it! I would like to hear about MD Anderson. Maybe I can help if you have questions about what's ahead. Since we've been there and done that. I just felt a connection when i heard Lorelei's story, seeing how hers and Cody's stories are so similiar. I am praying for your family and for Lorelei. Keep the faith, she can beat this!!
