What do you do when you've been given an entire day?

That's what Lorelei got today; a day.

Dr. Geister checked her blood counts this morning and said she's okay to begin the second round of RICE chemo tomorrow, Thursday.  (Platelets are 127!) Dr. Geister had to time her entry to the hospital so that she can receive the life-saving Neulasta shot on Monday at ICIO. If she began chemo today she'd have needed the shot on Sunday and there's not way to get it on a Sunday. (Insurance companies aren't speedy or flexible when it comes to injections--one way they are covered as a medical benefit but another way they are uncovered as a prescription.)

So, Lorelei will check in to Baptist tomorrow at 8am. (Dr. McMinn will oversee her treatment this time and we've been told by the people in "Evidence Based Practice & Quality" at Baptist that the pharmacy does indeed have a dose of the non-formulary Emend via IV available for Lorelei to receive tomorrow.) The plan this time is to stay ahead of her nausea so we don't repeat the nightmare.

This means Lorelei has an entire 24 hours to herself!  She can do anything she wants to do.  Currently she is lying on the bathroom floor running her hair dryer (not for hair-drying purposes but because that's just what she does to relax) and checking twitter.  She'll catch up on all things Thunder and troll on her friends' tweets as they whine about having to go to class and study. (Boo-yah!) She's also writing in her journal. Today's entry is titled "Things I Love."

Maybe today will include a mani-pedi. It has already included cinnamon pop-tarts and Scooby snacks. Probably a lot of TV watching (Millionaire) and puppy loving. A little mourning over her newly grown hair falling out. And, Lorelei's latest fascination has been the internet meme called "Dog Shaming." Likely we'll be writing up a few signs for Georgie and Ellie and posting those photos to Instagram.  Stay tuned.
